  • I have been a member of the Newcastle Planning Commission since April 2001 and have been its chairman since November of 2003. As a member of the Newcastle Planning Commission, I was an instrumental part of the most recent 20year Comprehensive Plan update. During my two terms as chairman, I have led the commission efforts in reworking many development regulations in the city, including: clearing and grading, lot sizes and residential parking. Recently, I have been working closely with the Mayor and the new City Manager in developing a communication plan aimed at increasing the dialog between the City Council and the Planning Commission. I believe that the efforts of our plan are already paying off. The commission has better direction, the council is better informed and the entire legislative process is going more smoothly.
